Our products contain ganoderma, the scientific name for the reishi mushroom. Reishi…..May be a champion disease fighter, helping to prevent cancer and heart disease. Is rich in many of the nutrients your body needs to operate properly, “including a host of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Reishi…Offers a healthy dose of B vitamins and selenium, an essential trace mineral with antioxidant properties. Is also a good source of iron, potassium, and fiber and is also rich in vitamin D, a nutrient linked to osteoporosis prevention and protection against colon cancer. Also contains compounds called Polysaccharides that bolster the immune system. The immune response is significant enough to suppress breast-tumor formation and end the proliferation of prostate-cancer cells. In several mice studies, scientists at the Beckman Research Institute used extracts from Reishi to inhibit tumor growth. Investigators in Japan have determined that Reishi has anti-tumor properties. And other research has noted the anti-viral and anti-bacterial effects of Reishi. There’s more…In addition to immune system benefits, reishi mushrooms can reduce blood pressure, concluded a study at the Oral Roberts University School of Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And the National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine is in the process of confirming the cholesterol-battling potential of Reishi, which have already been found to produce a natural form of Lovastatin, a drug that lowers cholesterol.”

Recently, a friend who is experiencing cancer told me her practitioner shared with her that one of the most significant cures for cancer is available to us on a daily basis… at no charge! That conversation occurred some time ago, and I am still kind of shaking my head and thinking, “Sunlight? If it were a mainstream drug it would be on the cover of all major newspapers and magazines. Why is this information kept under wraps?”
Sunlight as a Cancer Treatment
According to the multiple resources I was able to research, sunlight reduces the risk of many cancers by more than 50 percent and in creating Vitamin D in our bodies, offers natural healing and reversal of certain types of cancer. Again, I have to question, “Why do we not hear more about this?” For the most of my life I have stayed out of the sun, fearful of its harmful effects; now I find I may have inadvertently forsaken these preventative and healing properties – primarily because we have a medical community that elects to ignore a possible cure for many types of cancer and actually works hard to discredit it!
It is not so much that I have lost faith in conventional medicine, but I have always felt there is a personal responsibility in doing what is best for my body – which includes eating healthy (for the most part), exercising (which I have to admit is a tad sporadic), no smoking, very little drinking, and adopting attitudes about life’s events to remove undue stress. But, I do have to question why… why must the buzz always be about a new “drug” that is formulated as a possible cure? Why is there not more research into the things our Creator placed on this earth to heal ourselves naturally?
Let’s Stop Being Held Captive by the Medical Community
Are we to be held captive to a medical community that suffers an ego bruise when nature offers up a cure? Or is it about the potential loss of future revenue generated from selling hopes, promises, and miracle cures that don’t require personal responsibility? Wouldn’t it be an interesting turn of events to see sunlight promoted as a natural treatment for cancer next to a full page spread on chemotherapy – and other high-profit prescription drugs that they have to “disclose” can have serious negative side effects?
I am not totally skeptical about conventional medicine; I accept it is a for-profit industry and that there are many who are vested in healing, but this has me totally amazed… why are our doctors, or at the very least our educators, not teaching us something so basic – so foundational – in the name of nothing less than well care? Or… have they taught us the merits of sunshine, and our abuse of it has camouflaged the benefits for the dangers?
What Role Must We Play in Revealing Medical Truths?
What can we do to put sunlight, in appropriate doses, at the top of the list for natural treatments and prevention strategies for
cancer and diseases such as depression and osteoporosis? I am but one person, impacted by the ravages of cancer. What would it be like to open the minds of hundreds of millions of people the world over to save or improve lives through nothing more than a sensible exposure to nature’s golden sunlight?
Unfortunately, the trend I have seen in my research is that those who are courageous enough to take a stand for the powerful benefits of natural healing are discredited by critics… many of who have made up their minds that sunlight is more destructive than healthy, and don’t bother to question the validity of something they were taught – something which just may or may not be true.
Fortunately, because it is our personal responsibility to be in the know, and not just accept whatever we are told, there is no one to prevent us from taking advantage of the healthy benefits… no one can charge a royalty on the sensible amount we use, and in time, no one will be able to censor the truth about both the preventative and the healing properties of the Vitamin D found in sunlight.
Enter, The FDA
My twisted sense of humor has to look at a scenario where the FDA would say that any claims I make about sunlight automatically qualifies it as a drug, and in their infinite power, would try to outlaw its use, claiming the heath benefits to be unproven, and that millions of dollars in clinical drug trials must be completed before anyone is free to utilize it!
Just Shakin’ Up Your Thinkin’
Keep in mind… I am not telling you what to believe – I am only bringing something important to your attention… shaking up your thinking and encouraging you to do a bit of research on your own, or to come back to future blogs and see the “rest of the story”. I plan to research the effects of sunshine (Vitamin D) on such things as cardiovascular health, depression, pregnancy, etc. I want to know if there is a natural alternative to using medicines that mess with our biochemistry, or using pharmaceuticals to override natural human physiology. I also feel compelled to plant the seeds of curiosity and personal responsibility… and if there is veracity in the healing properties of the Vitamin D found in sensible doses of sunlight – I know you want to know!
Thank you for reading this “Chronicle” today… as you can see, I am passionate about it and will continue to be so. I would love your comments…

Nutrition in the News…
As your “nutrition nanny” it is my objective to bring you the latest information about nutrition – much of what is so deeply hidden the common reader doesn’t get to see it. There were two such items available today as I scoured the news to continue to increase my loyal readers’ awareness of “best nutrition choices.”
PepsiCo Takes on the Nutrition Challenge
[caption id="attachment_821" align="alignright" width="125" caption="Is PepsiCo bringing a new focus on nutrition?"]
[/caption]
I couldn’t believe my eyes, looking at today’s top news story about PepsiCo – taking a most unexpected step in driving growth through… drum roll… nutrition! According to the news being posted by WARC.com, PepsiCo has plans to position itself as a leader in nutrition – even with convenience foods. Now, that is an admirable task!
The best part of the article, in my estimation, was the possibility that the company will give equal focus to education, being a change-agent in changing and sustaining human behavior, relative to nutrition. The biggest question, however, remains whether PepsiCo can sustain the momentum in a challenging economy, on a global level – knowing that the efforts are all directed at creating a sustainable future for the concept and the products coming out of the planned expansion.

Money’s Weekly News also reported on PepsiCo’s recent action to team up with Feed the Children – Americans Feeding Americans Caravan – in a drive to feed close to 3,000 children. As one of the 10 largest charity programs coming from the U.S., this step will likely position PepsiCo as a stalwart supporter of nutrition. Is the company strictly profit driven? Perhaps… CEO Indra Nooyi was recently quoted, “The creation of this global nutrition group is part of our long-term strategy to grow our nutrition business from about $10Bn in revenues today to $30 billion by 2020.” At the end of the day, if the world is better served, does the company’s profit really matter? Probably not!

New Nutrition Guidelines for the Elderly…
[caption id="attachment_822" align="alignleft" width="125" caption="Creating new nutritional guidelines for the elderly..."]
[/caption]
The Health Services Journal reports that new guidelines have been established to ensure elderly people receive the required nutrients. In the UK, this population segment is at risk of being seriously malnourished. Will the United States pick up the gauntlet and do the same kind of research for our own graying population? It is obvious that special dietary needs become a natural part of our later years – are those needs really being addressed by food manufacturers?
As mobility declines, and we see families geographically separated, who will be there to manage this increasing vulnerability to malnutrition? Does the answer to the increased need for medical attention lie in nutritional well-care starting with food manufacturers bringing a wider variety of products balanced nutritionally for the needs of this specific population?

With this thought in mind, I was reminded of the Meals on Wheels programs – and wondered how strong the program is locally, and what could I do to support this program? In looking for that local information, I found my way to an article about what Canada is doing to manage the critical issues facing that country and what they are doing to counter them. Like the U.S., Canada is seeing that poor nutrition is linked to major diseases of obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, which is asymptomatic to over 50 percent of the country’s population. Apparently the McGill School of Dietetics and Nutrition has been a strong advocator of nutritional well-being since 1907 – and continues to tap into new technologies, cooking processes, and cooking equipment that facilitates best nutritional choices. What do we as a nation have in comparison?

The more I research and study nutrition, the more amazed I am to find there are an increasing number of products being made that allow us to make healthy choices. As adults, we have more awareness, and hopefully, a greater degree of “sense and sensibility” than our children in making those daily decisions about what we eat and drink. It is also critical that we begin sharing our knowledge with them and helping children make healthy nutrition choices as well; that we put in front of them products to choose from that are going to become part of living a healthy lifestyle. We all know kids think Gano Excel’s Cafe 2.0 Schokolade is great – but did you know it’s also great for them?
That’s right: every packet of this belly-warming, chocolatey family favorite is packed with vital nutrients and focus-boosting “brain foods” that make it a “hit” for kids’ health: body and mind!
So, why should you make Gano Schokolade a regular part of your child’s diet? ·
NO CAFFEINE!
Unlike other hot chocolates, Schokolade is 100% caffeine-free. Numerous studies indicate that children’s intake of caffeine should be strictly limited to no more than 45mg/day (if that). Wouldn’t it be great if you could satisfy your kid’s sweet-tooth without sugary, caffeine-packed cocoas? ·
POWER OF EXCELLIUM!
On his recent trip to the States, our company’s founder, Mr. Leow Soon Seng, confirmed that Gano Excel Cafe 2.0 Schokolade contains Excellium, a potent health-boosting formula made from the mycelium of Ganoderma lucidum. Mycelium is classed as a top-flight “brain food,” special edibles that boost mental activity and focus, because of its high-concentration of polysaccharides. Who ever heard of a cocoa that might help your kid achieve even more!
MAKE NUTRIENTS GO FURTHER!
The same mycelium that gives Schokolade its brain-boosting power may also help your kids absorb nutrients better! Unlike your old cocoa – all junk, no food – Schokolade helps the nutrients in your kid’s other food do more. Imagine pairing a cup of Schokolade with a packet of Gano Spirulina C’Real Oats for your child’s breakfast: that’s a powerhouse combo that can’t be beat! Oh, and Schokolade just happens to contain a gram less sugar than standard grocery store cocoa! No caffeine and less sugar means calmer kids…and makes Gano Schokolade a parent’s best friend for those long winter “inside days”!
You know my intent with my blog is to provide you with rich content; information that is powerfully impactful in the lifestyle choices you are then able to make. Once in a while, however, giving you that information may require giving you a call to action so that you at least give some of these nutritional items a try; reading about it won’t make a difference in your life! With that in mind, I encourage you to place an order and let your kid’s try a chocolate drink that will take the chill from a fall day, boost their focus and increase their ability to absorb other nutrients – all without the intake of caffeine!

Eating gluten free is becoming a more common factor in people seeking natural healthylifestyles, but it is essential for people diagnosed with Celiac Sprue…
Celiac Sprue is a genetic disease known to impact 1 of every 133 people in the US. Because it is genetic, each generation seems to have a much higher risk and should be tested early on so that proper health care can be initiated at an early age.
Celiac disease presents itself in people who eat foods containing gluten,

setting off an autoimmune response that causes damage to the small intestine. The damage later causes the small intestine to lose its ability to absorb the nutrients found in food… leading ultimately to potential malnutrition and various other complications.
The symptoms vary from chronic diarrhea to chronic constipation, and may include depression, anemia, inability to gain weight and the early onset of osteoporosis. Some patients present with anxiety, Attention Deficit Disorder, diabetes or Autism. For more information about this disease, please visit www.celiac.com or www.celiac.org.
Unfortunately, everything that is known about Celiac indicates it is incurable, but is manageable by strict adherence to a gluten free diet. When the body experiences gluten in the digestive tract, it engages in serious battle with the gluten – - damaging the tiny hair like projections known as villi which are found in the small intestines. The normal job of these villi is to absorb nutrients from the food that passes through the digestive tract.
Over the course of time, the intestines can become damaged so badly they simply fail to absorb any nutrients; the person eats and eats and eats… yet are actually starving to death because the food nutrients pass right through them. Because the nutrients the body fails to absorb differ from patient to patient, some doctors fail to properly diagnose a patient who may happen to present with extra body weight.
If you are concerned you may be experiencing a gluten intolerance, what is your next best step? Research the disease and become personally knowledgeable about it so that when you take your next step – that all important visit to the physician, you can talk openly about your concerns and participate in your own well-care at the highest possible level. If your test results come back negative, but you still have some concern, don’t hesitate discussing a gluten free diet with your doctor and try it for a while to see what changes you experience in your health.
